How do I split the last 4 digits in Excel? You can use the command RIGHT command. Lets suppose the number 123456789 is in A2 and you want the last 4 digits, you enter =RIGHT(A2, 4), that returns 6789, which are the last 4 digits.
To do this, create a new column containing the formula =*** - ** - RIGHT(B2,4), to insert asterisks and dashes along with the last four digits of each employees Social Security number, as illustrated in column C below. Once completed, you could then hide column B and print the desired report.
One is NEGATE, which inverts a number or logical value. For example, =NEGATE(5) would return -5. Another is IF, which allows you to test a condition and return one value if the condition is met and another if its not.
Show only the last 4 digits of ssn with formula 1. Select a blank cell, enter formula =RIGHT(A2,4) into the Formula Bar, and then press the Enter key. See screenshot: Note: In the formula, A2 is the cell contains the social security number.
Display Social Security numbers in full Or, select Number Format More Number Formats. In the Category box, select Special. In the Type list, choose Social Security Number.
If you want to extract the last n characters, like the last 3 characters, type this formula = RIGHT(E1, 3).
