Standard Via Sizes The most common via size is 10 mil, which is 7 mil after plating, but via size typically depends on the thickness of the board and is considered an aspect ratio equation. Micro vias, both laser drilled and mechanically drilled 4 mil holes, are related to the thickness of the boards.
Minimum Via Size: JLCPCB recommends a minimum via size of 0.2mm for via-in-pad technology. This size ensures that the via does not interfere with the components soldering process and provides sufficient conductivity.
Vias are tiny conductive paths that establish electrical connections between different PCB layers. Depending on their functionality, vias are classified as through-hole, blind, buried, and microvias. Microvias are further divided into stacked and staggered vias. A via consists of a barrel, a pad, and an anti-pad.
The best practice for epoxy filled vias is to have a FINISHED via hole diameter between the sizes of 0.008 and 0.018 (easy to remember!).
Thermal vias: 12 mil (0.3 mm) diameter placed on 25 mil (0.64 mm) grid spacing. Standard 1 mil (25 m) copper plating thickness No via filling.
The typical layout shows a via capture pad size of 0.660 mm, a via size of 0.254 mm, and an inner space and trace of 0.102 mm. With this layout, only one trace can be routed between the vias.
