Negation is the process of changing a positive sentence into a negative one by adding the word "not" after the first auxiliary verb in the sentence. Auxiliary verbs in English include do, have, be, and models like shall, must, might, can, will, would, etc. Negation can be applied to all verb tenses. For example, in the present simple tense, "I play tennis" becomes "I do not play tennis." In the past simple tense, "I played tennis" becomes "I did not play tennis."

In grammar, negation is when certain words or entire sentences are nullified or shown to be untrue by adding a special type of word called a negative. The most common example is the negative adverb not, used with auxiliary verbs like do or be to negate the original meaning of a sentence.
We form negative statements with not or n't after be, modal and auxiliary verbs. n't is the contracted form of not. In informal language we can add n't, without a space, to be, to modal verbs (except may) and to auxiliary verbs (do and have). The negative contracted form of will is won't.
In logic, a negation of a simple statement (one logical value) can usually be formed by placing the word “not” into the original statement. The negation will always have the opposite truth value of the original statement.
In grammar, negation is when certain words or entire sentences are nullified or shown to be untrue by adding a special type of word called a negative. The most common example is the negative adverb not, used with auxiliary verbs like do or be to negate the original meaning of a sentence.
A 'negative' headshake is used in two ways in ASL: to (i) negate a positive sentence or (ii) to emphasize the negation of a negative sentence. That is, the headshake can be the only indicator of negation in a sentence, as in (1), or a headshake can be used together with a negative lexical item such as NOT, as in (2).
The most common negative words are no and not. Other negative words include: neither, never, no one, nobody, none, nor, nothing, nowhere: She's never been abroad.
A negative sentence is a sentence that states that something is false. In English, we create negative sentences by adding the word 'not' after the auxiliary, or helping, verb.
To express negation, ASL uses both manual negative signs like NOT and non-manual mark- ing, in this case a headshake non-manual marker. A signer can negate a sentence by using the headshake non-manual marker simultaneously with the manual sign NOT and the scope of the former can vary, as shown in (7).
Negative sentences are typically formed by adding the word "not" after the helping verb. The most popular helping verbs are a form of "to be," including "am," "is," "are," "was" and "were."
For example, the given sentence is “Arjun's dog has a black tail”. Then, the negation of the given statement is “Arjun's dog does not have a black tail”. Thus, if the given statement is true, then the negation of the given statement is false.
