List of Spanish indirect object pronouns with examples me to/for me. te to/for you (informal, singular) le to/for him, her, you (formal, singular) nos to/for us. os to/for you (informal, plural) les to/for them, you (formal, plural)
The most common use of se is a reflexive pronoun. Such pronouns indicate that the subject of a verb is also its object. In English, this is usually accomplished by using verbs such as himself or themselves. Se is used as the reflexive pronoun for third-person uses (including when usted or ustedes is the subject).
These are known as reflexive pronouns. They are used whenever someone does something to themselves. Each of them corresponds with a subject pronoun: me goes with yo, te with t, nos with nosotros, and se with l, ella, ellos, and ellas. (se can be singular or plural depending on context.)
This se is simply used to replace the indirect object pronouns le/les when there is also a direct object pronoun that also begins with an L such as lo, la, los, las. Here are some examples: Ella dio un libro a su hermano Ella le lo dio Ella se lo dio. She gave a book to her brother She gave it to him.
Both are reflexive personal pronouns. The difference is that te is from the second person and se from the third person.
Se corresponds with to/for himself, herself, oneself, or themselves. Te corresponds with to/for yourself in an informal situation. For a formal situation, vous can serve this purpose.
You already knew that se was the reflexive pronoun in the third person, singular and plural. As such, it is used to conjugate reflexive verbs when the subject is l/ella/Ud. or ellos/ellas/Uds. However, se is also frequently used for impersonal constructions in Spanish.
Me myself. Me is only used for the first person singular yo, and it allows you to reflect the action on yourself. Te yourself (informal) Just like me, te is only used for one person. Se yourself (formal), yourselves (formal) himself, herself, itself, themselves, each other. Nos ourselves, each other.
