Also I believe using just single quotes inside of double quotes shouldnt require escaping and the other way around. to escape a duble quote you need to do \ , note, Im note sure it works in html attributes but it is a thing to try.
To get around this, replace the quotes with quot; .
Alternatively, you can use a backslash \ to escape the quotation marks. This lets JavaScript know in advance that you want to use a special character.
