Got questions?

Below are some common questions from our customers that may provide you with the answer you're looking for. If you can't find an answer to your question, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

We use not or nt to form negative questions. When there is no modal verb or be, we use auxiliary verb do + nt (dont, do not, doesnt, does not, didnt): Why didnt you ask Linda?
Negative questions are just the opposite: They present three answers which are correct statements, and one is incorrect. Here you are looking for that incorrect statement. These are much harder for many people, because in test-mode our minds want to automatically choose a correct statement as soon as you see it.
Dont you? You answer Yes, I do. or No, I dont. English is different from some other language. If they use negative to ask you, you still use yes for positive and no for negative. Such as Arent you happy? If you agree that you are not happy, you still do not say yes.
Saying No In most situations, you should not have to give information you are uncomfortable giving. The most direct way to do this is to simply say that you will not answer the question.
A negative question is one that is worded in such a way as to require a no response for an affirmative answer and a yes response for a negative answer. In other words, negative questions switch the yes/no response order of regular, or positive, questions to a less intuitive no/yes order.
The best answer would be, No, I didnt. This avoids the risk of ambiguity. This is a closed question (expects a yes or no answer). As such, the answer should begin with Yes or No.
Native English speakers frequently answer negative questions with positive answers. Likewise, many are used to receiving positive responses to negative questions. Because of this, you should always follow your no/yes answer with a clarification or explanation of your answer: No, I dont mind driving you.
