All right, lets talk about how we can do some numeric formatting in Microsoft Word. Maybe you are working on your accounting section and its starting to look like this. You have a nice doubled-spaced introduction. Maybe youll want to make this header a little bit larger, but the bottom line is you started to put in some numbers. But the numbers arent lined up in any way. When we present business documents we need to have a right alignment of all figures in that (list). And heres how you do it. In this case, you select the lines that you want to have a new alignment on, and then youre going to come over to this part of Microsoft Word. You may never have noticed this but this is a tab. This is a traditional left tab and when you click on this you see it changes. So Im just clicking and you can see it rotating through a couple of different kinds of tabs. When you see this one with a period, thats the one you want. When you see this visible, if you come over here and click anywh

Negative numbers are written with a minus sign in front, for example,-7 and this would be pronounced either minus 7 or negative 7. The negative sign tells you how far away a number is from zero, so -2 is two steps away from zero.
You can display negative numbers by using the minus sign, parentheses, or by applying a red color (with or without parentheses). Select the cell or range of cells that you want to format with a negative number style.
Subtracting a negative number from a positive number cancels out the negative signs and becomes simple addition. It makes the positive number more positive. When you subtract a negative number from another negative number, once again the negative signs cancel each other to become a plus sign.
Negative Number in Brackets across entire computer (including Excel) Go to your Control Panels, Choose the Clock, Language and Region option. Choose Additional Settings. On the Numbers tab click on the Negative Numbers format and choose the option with the brackets (1.1).
The negative version of a positive number is referred to as its negation. For example, 3 is the negation of the positive number 3. The sum of a number and its negation is equal to zero: 3 + (3) = 0.
Aligning Positive and Negative Whole Numbers in a Column Select the column containing the numbers. Make sure the column is left justified. Repeatedly click the tab indicator at the left side of the Ruler until you see the symbol for a decimal tab. Click on the Ruler in the area just above the selected column.
Method #1 Multiply by Negative 1 with a Formula We can write a formula to multiply the cells value by negative 1 (-1). This works on cells that contain either positive or negative numbers.
Multiply with minus 1 to Convert Negative Number to Positive If its positive, the sign is not changed and if its negative, a negative sign is added to the reference, which ends up giving us a positive number only.
