How to ignore a string if contains certain match using RegExp ^ matches the begining of the string; $ matches the end of the the string; (?! ) is a negative lookahead, in other words, it matches double quotes but negate it (dont pick up); ( .)* matches everything else except the previous match (double quote)
Similarly, the negation variant of the character class is defined as [^ ] (with ^ within the square braces), it matches a single character which is not in the specified or set of possible characters. For example the regular expression [^abc] matches a single character except a or, b or, c.
Negation. To match all characters except those listed, insert the ^ metacharacter at the beginning of the character class. This technique is known as negation. Enter your regex: [^bcr]at Enter input string to search: bat No match found.
To match any character except a list of excluded characters, put the excluded charaters between [^ and ] . The caret ^ must immediately follow the [ or else it stands for just itself. The character .
A dollar sign ( $ ) outside a bracket expression shall anchor the expression or subexpression it ends to the end of a string; such an expression or subexpression can match only a sequence ending at the last character of a string.
From this it is obvious that the negation of a regular language is regular, just run the original state machine and accept if it rejects and vice versa. This clearly only requires finite state and so it corresponds to a regular language.
\d is a digit (a character in the range [0-9] ), and + means one or more times. Thus, \d+ means match one or more digits. For example, the string 42 is matched by the pattern \d+ .
The $1 and $2 in the replacement string refer to the parenthesized groups in the pattern. $1 is replaced by the text that matched against the first group, $2 by the second, and so on, up to $9 . The whole match can be referred to with $ .
Typing a caret after the opening square bracket negates the character class. The result is that the character class matches any character that is not in the character class. Unlike the dot, negated character classes also match (invisible) line break characters.
