Curly braces act as a repetition quantifier in regex. They specify the number of times a character before preceding it can appear in the input string or text. They can also be used to specify a range i.e specify the minimum and maximum of times a character can appear.
NOT can be used in Google Sheets to exclude values from a range or to filter data. For example, if you want to exclude the value Apple from a range of cells, you can use the formula =NOT(A1:A5) to return the values in the range A1:A5 except for Apple.
A string within square brackets specifies any of the characters in string. Thus [abc], if compared to other strings, would match any that contained a, b, or c. Integer values enclosed in {} indicate the number of times to apply the preceding regular expression.
The curly brackets are used to match exactly n instances of the proceeding character or pattern. For example, /x{2}/ matches xx.
[[\]] will match either bracket. In some regex dialects (e.g. grep) you can omit the backslash before the ] if you place it immediately after the [ (because an empty character class would never be useful): [][] .
