hi everyone welcome back to my channel Bloom your math and a is your grade I am Lura Williams a trained mathematics teacher today we are going to learn about multiplication and division of positive and negative numbers so letamp;#39;s get started okay so our topic for today is rules for multiplication and division um for positive and negative numbers and this time youamp;#39;re not using any calculator so you have to learn these rules by heart okay so note the rules for addition and subtraction are different from the rules for multiplication and division all right so when we did addition we looked at having o or the number line for subtraction we used opposites and weamp;#39;re now going to look at multiplication and division and these rules for multiplication and division are basically the same so letamp;#39;s look at the rules for multiplication read with me a negative number multiply by a negative number gives a positive number so Iamp;#39;m going to use a sign remember

The natural logarithm function ln(x) is defined only for x0. So the natural logarithm of a negative number is undefined.
For example, if b = -4 and y = 1/2, then b^y = x is equal to the square root of -4. This wouldnt give us any real solutions! So the base CANNOT be negative. Putting together all 3 conclusions, we can say that the base of a logarithm can only be positive numbers excluding 1 i.e. 0 b 1 or b 1.
The base of any logarithm must be greater than 0 and not = 1. If the value is not greater than 0, the logarithmic graph would not be continues and it would have values that are not defined in the real number system. And, the base cant be 1 because y=1^x is not an exponential equation.
log 0 is undefined. Its not a real number, because you can never get zero by raising anything to the power of anything else. You can never docHub zero, you can only approach it using an infinitely large and negative power.
A common technique for handling negative values is to add a constant value to the data prior to applying the log transform. The transformation is therefore log(Y+a) where a is the constant. Some people like to choose a so that min(Y+a) is a very small positive number (like 0.001). Others choose a so that min(Y+a) = 1.
log 0 is undefined. Its not a real number, because you can never get zero by raising anything to the power of anything else.

So it undoubtedly this is the lowest. Number. So it but well change it into zero so the relative difference will not be the same.
However, when the argument of the logarithm is negative, such as in log3(-9), the function is undefined. This is because there is no exponent to which 3 can be raised to obtain a negative number. Logarithms are only defined for positive arguments.
