hi hello there welcome to acl for ipv4 configuration in the gated community where your grandparents live there are rules for who can enter and leave the premises the guard will not raise the gate to let you in to the community until someone confirms that you are on an approved visitors list much like the guard in the gated community network traffic passing through the interface configured with an access control list or acl has permitted and denied traffic so how do you configure these acls how how do you modify them if they are not working correctly or if they require other changes how do acls provide secure remote administrative access get started with this module to learn more so at the end of this video lecture you should be able to implement an ipb for acls to filter traffic and secure administrative access so along with this video lecture we will be talking about the configuration of the standard ipv4 acls modify ipv4 acls secure vty ports with a standard ipv4 acl and conf

An explicit deny rule disallows any traffic through the firewall that isnt explicitly (specifically created rule) set. So if you allow port 80 traffic to enter the host or network (explicit allow rule), implicit deny will prevent all other traffic that isnt destined for port 80.
The Implicit Deny is a function the switch automatically adds as the last action in all ACLs. It denies (drops) any IPv4 traffic from any source to any destination that has not found a match with earlier entries in the ACL.
When deny is used in the ACL rule, the system discards packets when traffic matches the ACL rule, and the action in the traffic behavior does not take effect (except traffic statistics collection and traffic mirroring actions).
An access control list (ACL) is made up of rules that either allow access to a computer environment or deny it. In a way, an access control list is like a guest list at an exclusive club. Only those on the list are allowed in the doors.
Explicit deny is a security concept where specific actions or access attempts are prohibited even if not explicitly allowed. It explicitly denies access to a user, process, or resource.
The explicit deny is when the administrator has selected the Deny option for a permission for a user or group. This Deny takes precedence over all allowed settings. The administrator has explicitly set the permission, and there is no way around it.
Another way to look at it is this, a bouncer at a nightclub with a list of people allowed in is an example of Implicit Deny. Anyone not falling into that allowed list is denied entry.
any packet entering to interface is considered as inbound by ACL. any packet leaving out of interface is considered as outbound by ACL.
