hello everyone in this video I want to show you how to convert a negative number to its binary representation assuming that weamp;#39;re going to use the twoamp;#39;s complement uh technique so uh the idea is very similar to when you want to convert a ons an unsigned integer to a spiny representation um Iamp;#39;m just going to explain how it works it just basically the same as the previous uh video but in this case we havenamp;#39;t uh extra step um let me explain it with an example letamp;#39;s say the the number that you want to convert to its final representation is negative 65 000. and um the idea is similar to the previous video you need to first uh divide this number by two many many times until you docHub to a quotient equal to zero and the only difference here is you need to get the absolute value first because the number is negative so you get the absolute value uh to convert negative 65 000 to 65 000 then divided by 2 get the quotient place it in B2 get the remai

To represent a negative decimal number in 16-bit binary, you first convert the absolute value of the number to binary, then invert the bits (change 1s to 0s and 0s to 1s), and finally add 1 to the result. Lets take -18 as an example. The binary representation of 18 (in 16 bits) is 0000000000010010.
Representing negative five as 11012 is an example of the sign-magnitude system of negative binary numeration.
Usually a 0 indicates the number is positive and a 1 indicates the number is negative. Using this method we get the following: 1000011 = -3.
The conversion of a binary digit, or bit, into its opposite. For example, a 1 converted into a 0 is considered a negation. A complete negation of an 8-bit binary number may look similar to the example below.
Lets define the lenght of the number as 8 bits, 4 bits for decimal and 4 bits for fraction parts. To convert negative, procedure is standard, invert all bits and add 1 to the least significand digit.
The simplest is to simply use the leftmost digit of the number as a special value to represent the sign of the number: 0 = positive, 1 = negative. For example, a value of positive 12 (decimal) would be written as 01100 in binary, but negative 12 (decimal) would be written as 11100.
