So back in the beginning of this year I showed you how to take a list of names, like this, and then convert them to Last Name, First Name, like this, using some complex formulas and lots of extra columns. The technique I used involved first figuring out how many spaces were in the name which turns out to be very difficult. You have to count how many characters with spaces and subtract how many characters without spaces to get that number. Then you had to substitute a special character, like a semi-colon, for the last space in the name. So first name and middle name remain together and the last name is separate. Then

In macOS, the full name (sometimes called the user name or display name) is usually different from your account name (sometimes called the short name). Changing your full name should have little effect on your computers functionality.
You cant change the name of an account while logged into the account youre changing. So you will also need to log in to a different (administrator) account to do this you may need to create that first.
You can view and change your computers name in the About settings window. On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, click General in the sidebar, then click About on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) Type a new name in the Name field.
Open User Groups by navigating to Apple menu System Preferences Users Groups. Click the lock icon at the bottom left corner of the preference pane and provide your password to unlock the pane. Hold the control button and click on the admin you are renaming from the list of users on the left side of the pane.
Change your computers name or local hostname on Mac On your Mac, choose Apple menu System Settings, click General in the sidebar, then click About on the right. (You may need to scroll down.) Open About settings for me. Type a new name in the Name field.
Choose Apple menu () System Preferences, then click Users Groups. Click , then enter an administrator name and password. From the list of users, Control-click or right-click the user that. you want to rename. Choose Advanced Options from the shortcut menu. Change the name in the Full name field, then click OK.
Click on the lock icon at the bottom left. Login by entering your username and password. Select Control-Click on the username you wish to remove. Choose Advanced Options next to the username. Keep a note of the Account Name. Click Cancel to get out of the page.
