To completely remove an entire ACL, first remove it from the interface by using the no ip access-group access-list-number command on the specific interface and then use the global configuration no access-list access-list-number command to delete the entire ACL.
When an ACL has multiple rules, the rules are applied to the packet or frame in the order in which you add them to the ACL. There is an implicit deny all rule as the final rule.
The last rule in every ACL is an implicit deny statement.
At the end of every ACL, there is an Implicit DENY ALL statement. This statement does not show up in the configuration or when you run the show access-list command.
The command syntax of a standard ACL is as follows: router(config)#access-list access-list-number {permit | deny} {source [source-wildcard] | host hostname | any}
REMEMBER: the end of ACLs is usually an implicit deny all statement which means that if no traffic is matched against the ACLs, then it is automatically dropped. The figure above demonstrates how standard and extended access lists can be applied to control traffic.
Access Control Lists (ACLs) are a collection of permit and deny conditions, called rules, that provide security by blocking unauthorized users and allowing authorized users to access specific resources.
If needed, enter the show ip access-list command to display the rules of the relevant ACL. To delete a rule by sequence number, enter the no sequence command, specifying the sequence number. To delete a rule by content, enter the no permit command, specifying the rule content.
