CSS Image ID You can use the ID selector on headings or images, buttons, and other HTML elements. Lets say you want to style a specific image on your page. Maybe you want it to have a different shape and level of opacity than the other images on that page. In that case, you could use an ID selector.
The CSS id Selector The id of an element is unique within a page, so the id selector is used to select one unique element! To select an element with a specific id, write a hash (#) character, followed by the id of the element.
To successfully use CSS Override, one should namespace each CSS Override class with the #css-api ID attribute (it exists for technical reasons, see CSS Specificity for more details).
IDs should be unique on a page. This means that if you attach a style to an ID, you wont be able to reuse it within the same webpage. Classes, however, can appear on several HTML elements on the same page. Being able to reuse styles is one of the advantages of CSS.
You should use a class if you need to use the same selector more than once within a page or a site. While an ID is specific to a single element, classes can be assigned to multiple elements on a page or throughout the website. They are not unique.
You need to have matching capitalization. Code can be very case senstive. You dont use an octothorp ( # ) in the id attribute. It is needed in the href and in the css identifier to state that it is an id, but you dont want it as part of the actual name.
Using classes instead of IDs in CSS selectors provides more flexibility and reusability. Classes can be applied to multiple elements on a page, allowing for consistent styling across different parts of a website, whereas IDs must be unique to each element.
You should not use unnecessary ids in HTML to avoid duplicate ids on a page. Duplicate ids can mess up the information passed through the accessibility APIs and provide bad information to users.
