Delete a formula Select the cell or range of cells that contain the formula. Press Delete.
There are a few similar formulae to NOT in Excel. One is NEGATE, which inverts a number or logical value. For example, =NEGATE(5) would return -5. Another is IF, which allows you to test a condition and return one value if the condition is met and another if its not.
It has no meaning. The + after = is superfluous. It is a carryover from Lotus 1-2-3, where formulas can be entered as +123+456 instead of =123+456. Excel permits that form as well. It changes the first to the latter.
The double negative (sometimes called the even more nerdy double unary) coerces TRUE or FALSE values to their numeric equivalents, 1 and 0. Its used in formulas where numbers are needed for a particular math operation.
For simple formulas, simply type the equal sign followed by the numeric values that you want to calculate and the math operators that you want to use the plus sign (+) to add, the minus sign (-) to subtract, the asterisk (*) to multiply, and the forward slash (/) to divide.
Below are the steps to reverse the sign using Paste Special: In any empty cell in the worksheet, enter -1. Copy this cell (which has the value -1) Select the range where you want to reverse the sign. Right-click on any of the selected cells. Click on Paste Special. In the Paste option, select Values
The @ symbol is already used in table references to indicate implicit intersection. Consider the following formula in a table =[@Column1]. Here the @ indicates that the formula should use implicit intersection to retrieve the value on the same row from [Column1].
Why two minus signs -- in an excel formula? Advertisement. Using two minus signs next to each other causes the formula to convert a return value of TRUE into 1 and a return value of FALSE into 0. Lets start with a simple logical condition :3 2 . Apply this in excel = 32 returns TRUE .
