Hello, Im Chris Menard. Ive already covered a detailed video on how to import a CSV file into your Google Calendar. This video is five troubleshooting tips on your import, on why its not working. Recently, students have gone back to university, so Im getting a lot of emails saying that their import isnt working. So thats why Im making this video. So troubleshooting tip number one is, there are two required fields in that header row. One is the header row. Subject and Start Date, you must have something in there so you cant leave that Subject blank. In real life though, you usually fill in most of these fields, I really see it with just two fields filled in. So troubleshooting tip number one is make sure Subject is filled in. A CSV file stores data in rows and the values in each row is separated with a separator, also known as a delimiter. Although the file is defined as Comma Separated Values, the delimiter could be anything. The most common delimiters are: a comma (,), a semicolon (;), a tab (\t), a space ( ) and a pipe (|).
The most common delimiter used is a comma. As a result, you will often encounter comma-delimited files by their more common name, comma-separated values or CSV files. Importing these files is often the first step of any data analysis project, so we show you how to import CSVs (and other delimited files) below.
In the Region dialog box, on the Formats tab, click Additional settings In the Customize Format dialog box, on the Numbers tab, type the character you want to use as the default CSV delimiter in the List separator box. For this change to work, the List separator should not be the same as Decimal symbol.
