When raster engraving, the laser sweeps back and forth in horizontal rows, going from the left-most pixel to the right-most. If there is empty space in the middle, the laser will shut off as necessary, but the lens will continue moving at the same speed.
In a raster engraving, the image is created in a way quite similar to how an inkjet printer applies ink; line by line and point by point. Rather than ink being applied, however, material is removed by the laser. This is a bi-directional process in which engraving is done in alternating fashion in both directions.
Raster engraving is suited to large-area applications like filled letters, images, stamps or wood engraving. Vector engraving is preferable for applications which only require thin lines to be engraved, and results may be produced quicker than other methods. For laser cutting this method is the only one used.
Vector cutting is simply cutting the outline of a shape or lines on a piece of material. Raster engraving involves the laser performing an engraving function as it moves across the material.
Reverse engraving refers to the process of engraving the under-side of a substrate allowing the top or finished side of the substrate to remain smooth. The process of reverse engraving is very similar to traditional first. surface (top) engraving.

Is the laser turning on when its moving? If so, theres a decent chance that youre simply moving too fast, or its not properly in focus. What speed and power are you using? You can take a screen shot of the LightBurn window and post that, and that may help too.
Raster engraving is the standard process for engraving. This process is known from inkjet printers, where a file is printed line by line.
