hey guys today weamp;#39;re going to talk about the access control list or acl what is an acl access control list is a list of statements that are meant to either permit or deny the movement of data from the network layer and above they are used to filter traffic in our networks as required by the security policy filtering of packets is a way to check the incoming packets and outgoing packets against set criteria so as to determine whether they should be forwarded or dropped a router usually accomplishes this routers forward packets based on layer 3 information when we apply filters the router examines this information and decides whether the packet can traverse the network if a packet passes the set criteria it is forwarded if not it is dropped the criteria used by the router to determine whether packets can traverse the network is made by configuring acls with access control lists we can filter traffic based on destination and source layer 3 address destination and source port numbe

IP ACLs are useful for reducing network security risks, such as blocking denial of service attacks and defining applications and ports that can receive traffic. For example, to secure a web service, an ACL can be created to only allow web traffic and block all other traffic.
When deny is used in the ACL rule, the system discards packets when traffic matches the ACL rule, and the action in the traffic behavior does not take effect (except traffic statistics collection and traffic mirroring actions).
Definition. An Access Control List (ACL) is a packet filter that filters packets based on rules. One or more rules describe the packet matching conditions, such as the source address, destination address, and port number of packets.
Explicit deny is a security concept where specific actions or access attempts are prohibited even if not explicitly allowed. It explicitly denies access to a user, process, or resource.
An explicit deny rule disallows any traffic through the firewall that isnt explicitly (specifically created rule) set. So if you allow port 80 traffic to enter the host or network (explicit allow rule), implicit deny will prevent all other traffic that isnt destined for port 80.
To completely remove an entire ACL, first remove it from the interface by using the no ip access-group access-list-number command on the specific interface and then use the global configuration no access-list access-list-number command to delete the entire ACL.
Another way to look at it is this, a bouncer at a nightclub with a list of people allowed in is an example of Implicit Deny. Anyone not falling into that allowed list is denied entry.
The explicit deny is when the administrator has selected the Deny option for a permission for a user or group. This Deny takes precedence over all allowed settings. The administrator has explicitly set the permission, and there is no way around it.
