Trailing commas Saving an Excel file as a CSV file can create extra commas at the end of each row. Trailing commas can result when columns are deleted or column headers removed. When the file is uploaded to Clever, an extra trailing comma will skew subsequent rows of data, preventing them from being processed.
One of the most popular ways to remove commas from a string of text in Excel is to use the find and replace method. While this approach makes it easy to find all of the commas in a cell and replace them, its important to note that it only works with text data. This option isnt compatible with numerical data.
Use the replace function to replace the comma(,) with a empty value. Store the text in a String variable, lets name the variable as InputStr. The above expression will replace the comma with Empty value.
See RTrim(). To remove trailing commas in each row, you would need to loop through them and apply it to each. You could use RegExReplace() to replace all trailing commas in all rows at once.
Indicate separator directly in CSV file For this, open your file in any text editor, say Notepad, and type the below string before any other data: To separate values with comma: sep=, To separate values with semicolon: sep=;
Use the Control + H shortcut to find and replace commas quickly. If you plan to use the find and replace option to remove commas from your Excel spreadsheet, you can use this keyboard shortcut to open the Find and Replace dialog box. This can save you time.
set row=! row:=! is designed to remove quotes from row . Youd need to add another line set row=! row:,=! to remove the commas.
