The negative forms of non-finite clauses are formed by adding not before them. For example: The best thing about vacations is not working ! She didnt say anything, not wanting to worry anyone.
Creating Negative Sentences - Answers I am not going to the grocery store today./Im not going to the grocery store today. It is not cold outside today./It isnt cold outside today. We are not going to the movie theater./We arent going to the movie theater. Ben was not taking a nap./Ben wasnt taking a nap.
In general, we have the same statement: The negation of A or B is the statement Not A and Not B.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a negative sentence as one denying a predicate of a subject or a part of a subject, denoting the absence or the contradictory of something, expressing negation, and ing to the Collins Dictionary, a negative clause contains a word such as not, never, or no-one.
Negation is the process of reversing the meaning of a Boolean expression. There are two approaches used to negate a Boolean expression. The first approach is the easiest one. Just use a NOT operator in front of the original Boolean expression and your negated Boolean expression is ready!
In English grammar, negation is a grammatical construction that contradicts (or negates) all or part of the meaning of a sentence. Also known as a negative construction or standard negation. In standard English, negative clauses and sentences commonly include the negative particle not or the contracted negative nt.
Negatives They are not working hard. They will not be working hard. They arent working hard. They wont be working hard. I dont have much time. She doesnt have any money. I havent much time. She hasnt any money. He told us not to make so much noise. We were asked not to park in front of the house.
Non-finite clauses are clauses without a subject, where the main verb is in the to-infinitive form, the -ing form or the -ed form. To make the negative of a non-finite clause, we can use not. To have given up such a good job would have been foolish.
