XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a widely used format for storing and exchanging structured data. XSD (XML Schema Definition) is a schema language used to define the structure, content, and data types of XML documents. Validating XML against XSD ensures that the XML document conforms to the specified schema.
A XML Schema can be referenced from an XML document by defining the schemaLocation and noNamespaceSchemaLocation attributes. The schemaLocation attribute is used to reference XML Schema(s) that are defined in a target-namespace.
XML is complex and less flexible. JSON supports numbers, objects, strings, and Boolean arrays. XML supports all JSON data types and additional types like Boolean, dates, images, and namespaces.
XML documents are validated by the Create method of the XmlReader class. To validate an XML document, construct an XmlReaderSettings object that contains an XML schema definition language (XSD) schema with which to validate the XML document.
Kotlin Editor: fun main() { val number = 1 //val number = -4 //val number = 0 println(Number is: $number) if (number 0) { println(The number is positive.) } else if (number 0) { println(The number is negative.) } else { println(The number is zero.) } } println(The number is positive.)
XML Validator XML documents must have a root element. XML elements must have a closing tag. XML tags are case sensitive. XML elements must be properly nested. XML attribute values must be quoted.
We add the XML document data in the top box, while in the bottom box, we add the XML schema and then click on validate XML. Now we have an excellent schema with constraints and a valid XML document. We can add more to the schema like minOccurs and maxOccurs to the element tags.
