Heres how: Select the cell where you want the positive value to appear. Type = followed by the cell reference containing the negative number. Type *-1 after the cell reference. Press Enter to calculate the result.
The following steps will show you how to do this: Click on the cell that contains the negative number. On the Home tab, click on the Number Format button. In the Number Format dialog box, select Positive from the dropdown list. Click OK.
Type -1 in a blank cell Locate a blank cell on your spreadsheet near the data set you want to change. Place your cursor in the cell and type negative one (-1). Click anywhere else on the sheet to exit the cell.
This is a general method in which we will first check whether the number is already positive or negative, if the number is negative then we will multiply the number by -1 to make it positive.
To quickly remove data validation for a cell, select it, and then go to Data Data Tools Data Validation Settings Clear All.
Method 1: Using the ABS Function The function in Excel returns the absolute value of a number, effectively removing its sign. This is the simplest way to convert negative numbers to positive.
0:26 5:50 And then multiply that by negative 1. And same thing there so we could copy those formulas. Down.MoreAnd then multiply that by negative 1. And same thing there so we could copy those formulas. Down. And across to change all of the signs. Now if we didnt want to create a new formula with new columns.
