Basic authentication is now disabled in all tenants. Before December 31 2022, you could re-enable the affected protocols if users and apps in your tenant couldnt connect. Now no one (you or Microsoft support) can re-enable Basic authentication in your tenant.
Find Microsoft 365 users/devices still using Basic Authentication Method Go to the sign-in logs and click the Add filters. Select Client app and click Apply. Then click Client app:none selected and select all entries below Legacy Authentication Clients and click Apply.
From the Exchange Admin Center (EAC) Select the server that you wish to Edit using the dropdown menu. Select the Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync (Default Web Site) virtual directory and click Edit. Select Authentication, clear the Basic authentication check box and click Save.
You block Basic authentication in Exchange Online by creating and assigning authentication policies to individual users. The policies define the client protocols where Basic authentication is blocked, and assigning the policy to one or more users blocks their Basic authentication requests for the specified protocols.
Configure the policy value for Computer Configuration - Administrative Templates - Windows Components - Windows Remote Management (WinRM) - WinRM Client - Allow Basic authentication to Disabled.
Disable basic authentication In the Azure portal, search for and select App Services, and then select your app. In the apps left menu, select Configuration General settings. For SCM Basic Auth Publishing Credentials or FTP Basic Auth Publishing Credentials, select Off, then select Save.
Manage Basic authentication in the Microsoft 365 admin center. In the Microsoft 365 admin center at , go Settings Org Settings Modern Authentication. In the Modern authentication flyout that appears, you can identify the protocols that no longer require Basic authentication.
