Retrieving an item in DynamoDB requires using GetItem, and specifying the table name and item primary key. Be sure to include a complete primary key rather than omitting a portion. For example, omitting the sort key of a composite key. It executes as an eventually consistent read.
A conditional write succeeds only if the item attributes meet one or more expected conditions. Otherwise, it returns an error. Conditional writes are helpful in many situations. For example, you might want a PutItem operation to succeed only if there is not already an item with the same primary key.
An item is the core unit of data in DynamoDB. It is comparable to a row in a relational database, a document in MongoDB, or a simple object in a programming language. Each item is uniquely identifiable by a primary key that is set on a table level. An item is composed of attributes, which are bits of data on the item.
When you add an item, the primary key attributes are the only required attributes. Empty String and Binary attribute values are allowed. Attribute values of type String and Binary must have a length greater than zero if the attribute is used as a key attribute for a table or index. Set type attributes cannot be empty.
Search your table by name and click on your table. Now select the orange button named Explore table items. Scroll down and Click on Create item. Now you will see an editor with JSON Value, Click on Form button on the right side to add a new column and its type.
There is no way to check if an attribute exists for an item without actually reading the data: You can use --attributes-to-get option to retrieve (or not) only the attribute that youre interested in.
Use the SET action in an update expression to add one or more attributes to an item. If any of these attributes already exists, they are overwritten by the new values. You can also use SET to add or subtract from an attribute that is of type Number . To perform multiple SET actions, separate them with commas.
Open the DynamoDB console at . In the navigation pane on the left side of the console, choose Tables. In the table list, choose the Music table. Select Explore Table Items. In the Items view, choose Create item. Choose Add new attribute, and then choose Number.
