In Palo Alto Networks firewalls authentication policies, the Negate option allows you to create a policy rule that matches traffic based on the absence of a specific condition or attribute.
In a security policy rule, the action that results in traffic being silently rejected is generally the drop action. When a packet matches a security policy rule with the drop action, it is discarded without any notification or response. This can be considered as a form of silent rejection.
What are two potential risks associated with the reset-both Security policy action? Sending a reset can facilitate malicious use such as reverse mapping through port scanning. You receive notification about a new malware that infects hosts.
The three types of Security policy rules that can be created are intra-zone, inter-zone, and universal. However, the default rule type among these three is the universal rule type.
the negate option in source or destination address field is exclusion of that object in a policy. The exact wording from documentation: Selecting the Negate option will apply the rule to destination addresses in the specified zone except for the addresses specified.
