Students can check status of their application at any time by signing into Academic Health Plans (AHP) Waiver System. It is the students responsibility to monitor their waiver application status.
University Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP): The university provides a health insurance option for all students that is reasonably priced and has coverage comparable to that of other premium plans on the market. The university has contracted with Academic HealthPlans (AHP) to service UMDs student plans.
Late waivers will be accepted through the late waiver deadline, subject to the $50.00 late waiver fee. Waivers will not be accepted after the late waiver deadline has passed. Waiving is an annual process and must be completed each new academic year to avoid being automatically enrolled into UC SHIP.
To Waive 2022-2023 SHIP Have an electronic copy of your current insurance card and your University of Maryland student ID. Log in to the system by using the following: Select the SIGN IN button. On the home page, click the WAIVE button from the I Already Have Insurance section.
All undergraduate students at the University of Maryland, College Park, who are enrolled in 6 or more credits (this includes in person and/or online only) are required to have Health Insurance.
