hello everybody this is tech Hut and this is another Windows basics tutorial and in this one what Im going to be doing is showing you how to use and why youd want to use zip files and windows were gonna go over how to create them how to compress them how to add files to them and Im gonna shout out a tool that adds more functionality to this so a zip file is essentially a way to compress your files down and make them easier to send now lets say I have here a group of files that I want to send together to somebody or I want to upload them to the Internet and make it easier to download all I would need to do is select all of the items that I want to be compressed into the zip folder right click on it and then youre gonna have the option to send it to a compressed zip folder so if I just clicked on that what would happen is it will begin the compressing process and it will create a folder on or in the same directory that you had those files in so here I can name this something like

From the Archive format field, select zip. Under the Encryption section, enter a strong password or passphrase in the Enter passphrase field and again in the Reenter passphrase field. Ensure the Encryption method is AES-256. Onced finished, click OK.
The zip man page provides a -u option to update a zip archive. You can use it like so: zip -u bigzip. zip file/to/update1 file/to/update2
If you put the files youd like to protect in a zip file, you can then apply a password. In Windows Explorer, highlight and right-click on the files you would like to put into a zipped file. Select Send to, then Zip folder (compressed). Double-click the zipped file, then select File and Add Password.
2) Check out the multifile document which includes the zipped file. 3) Select zip-file inside multifile document and select with right-click Windows commands - 7-Zip - Open archive. Zip packet content inside 7-zip window will open. 4) Open document editor (e.g. Word) with double-click and edit the document.
Most of mainstream archive formats standards (including 7Z, RAR, and ZIP / ZIPX) provides file-level encryption scheme. That architecture choice means a single archive can be created to contain files encrypted with different passwords - ideally a different password for each file can be applied.
How to password protect zip files on Windows Right-click (or press and hold) a file or folder and select Properties. Select the Advanced button and select the Encrypt contents to secure the data check box. Select OK to close the Advanced Attributes window, select Apply, and then select OK.
To change the order of a file or folder, click the dots on to the left of the folder or files name that youre interested in. Dragging while clicking will move the file or folder up and down.
Can you put a password on a zip file? Windows doesnt have an option to protect your zipped file with a password, so theres no other way but to use third-party tools. You can choose from various trusted software options, such as WinZip, WinRAR, and 7-Zip.
