Has the check box "Check grammar with spelling" been ticked? If not, the "Show readability statistics" check box will be disabled (greyed out). In the screenshots below, you can see the difference.

Click Edit Document > Edit in Word for the web to make changes to a document. When you open a document from OneDrive, Word for the web displays it in Reading view. To make changes to your document, switch to Editing view, where you can add and delete content and do other things, such as: Add tables and pictures.
On the Home tab, right-click any style in the Styles gallery and click Modify. In the Formatting section, make any formatting changes you want, such as font style, size, or color, alignment, line spacing, or indentation.
The biggest reason why the readability statistics might not appear is because Word is configured incorrectly. To understand how to configure it correctly, it is best to display the settings: Display the Word Options dialog box.
Remove read only Click the Microsoft Office Button. , and then click Save or Save As if you have previously saved the document. Click Tools. Click General Options. Clear the Read-only recommended check box. Click OK. Save the document. You might need to save it as another file name if you have already named the document.
