before we go any further it should be noted by definition what a template is and a template is something that serves as a master or pattern from which other similar things can be made so Ive got an invoice here that Im sending off to Barney Fife but then after this Ive got another client that I want to invoice like lets say dot Warner so instead of like recreating this we can just go ahead and overwrite who its going to be addressed to and then update the description down below but better yet what I can do is I can get rid of all the dynamic fields meaning that all the fields that will always be changing with each new invoice you know who are billing and then save it as a template so instead of opening up an old invoice and replacing who we previously invoiced because we can make mistakes we could actually leave the name and type in a new address or have the name changed and keep the same address if we just go ahead and clear it out then we know when its blank theres nothing the

Unlock a protected document On the Review tab, in the Protect group, click Restrict Editing. In the Restrict Editing task pane, click Stop Protection. If you are prompted to provide a password, type the password.
To begin, click the Template Editor button in the Tools ribbon tab. This displays the Edit report template window. Click the downward arrow to select the template that youd like to copy. Then, click the duplicate template button to duplicate that template.
Simply select Step Protection button to unlock protected part of the document. In case the Word document is marked as final and you cant edit it. You just need to click the Edit Anyway button that highlight in the head of the page. It is only one-time operation, so you have to perform this step everytime.
If you receive or open a document and cant make any changes, it might be Open for viewing only in Protected View. Follow these steps to edit: Go to File Info. Select Protect document.
In Microsoft Word, you can edit templates, which means you wont have to start over from scratch.
On the Home tab, right-click any style in the Styles gallery and click Modify. In the Formatting section, make any formatting changes you want, such as font style, size, or color, alignment, line spacing, or indentation. Choose whether the style change applies to the current document or to all future documents.
How to enable editing in Word Select File from the top banner. Click Info. Choose Protect document. Select Enable editing.
The file might be locked because: The file is shared and another user is currently editing it. An instance of the Office app is running in the background with the file already opened. The file has been marked as Final and can no longer be updated.
