You can sometimes amend a trademark registration issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, just like you can sometimes amend a trademark application before it becomes a registration. All requests for amendment of a registration must be for amp;quot;good cause,amp;quot; which essentially means you need to have a legitimate reason for the amendment. In addition, a request to amend a trademark registration must be accompanied by the required government filing fee and be supported with the proper declaration language. So, why would you need to amend a trademark registration? Although there are many reasons why a trademark owner may need to amend a trademark registration, there are two situations which arise most frequently. Can you refile a trademark application?

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) abandons a trademark application when timely response to an Examining Attorneys office action is not received. You can file a petition to revive an abandoned application if your delay in responding to the office action was unintentional.

Can you add a class to an existing trademark?

Is it possible to register a trademark in one class at first, and then register another class(es) later? Yes, it is possible to register a trademark in another class later; however, bear in mind that this would need to be a new application for a new trademark. You cant extend classes on a previously filed trademark.

As a matter of fact, it is not possible to add any extra elements (written or visual) to a pending or registered trademark.
