Here are the steps to enable track changes in Excel: Go to the Review tab. In the Changes group, click on the Track Changes option and select Highlight Changes. In the Highlight Changes dialog box, check the option Track changes while editing. This also shares your workbook. Click OK.
On the Excel menu, click Preferences. , and then clear the Enable background error checking check box. Tip: You can also hide precedent and dependent tracer arrows once youve identified the cell that is causing an error to appear. On the Formulas tab, in the Formula Auditing group, click Remove Arrows.
Heres how to use it: Select the cell you want to trace precedents for. Go to the Formula Auditing group on the Formulas tab. Click on the Trace Precedents button ( or Ctrl + ] ). If the cell has multiple precedents, you can use the Trace Precedents button again to trace the precedents of the precedent cells.
The Changes pane shows only the most recent changes. To view changes over a longer period of time, use Version History by selecting File Info Version History and then select a version to preview it.
On the Review tab, click Track Changes, and then click Highlight Changes. Select or clear the Track changes while editing. This also shares your workbook check box. Selecting this check box shares the workbook and highlights changes that you or other users make.
Shared Workbook: The Show Changes option is only available for shared workbooks. If your workbook is not shared, you wont be able to use this feature.
Open your workbook to a sheet that contains cells with precedents or dependents. Select the cell in which you want to check precedents and/or dependents. Click the Trace Precedents or Trace Dependents button in the Formula Auditing group of the Formulas tab.
How to track changes in Excel On the Review tab, in the Changes group, click the Track Changes button, and then select Highlight Changes. In the Highlight Changes dialog box, do the following: Check the Track changes while editing. If prompted, allow Excel to save your workbook, and you are done!
