In XPS spectra of materials, all binding energies should be corrected using a standard. Usually, carbon element with binding energy of C 1s = 284.6 eV is used as an internal standard. You should shift the binding energies of your samples based on this value.
xps was replaced with the ECMA standard . oxps format which is not natively supported in older Windows versions. OpenXPS was introduced by Microsoft as an alternative to Portable Document Format (PDF). However, PDF remained the standard choice, and support for and user familiarity with XPS files is limited.
OXPS files can be opened using the xps viewer which should be in start - windows accessories.
In the April 2018 Update (Build 1803) for Windows 10, Microsoft officially retired the XPS format and removed XPS Viewer.
There is no way of editing XPS files. You have to keep the original DOCX / DOC format file, do your editing there and then save a new XPS file.
The XPS format is Microsofts alternative to the PDF format. However, most people are unfamiliar with the XPS file because the PDF format is commonly used as the standard for saving and presenting documents.

Once you save a document as an XPS file, you can no longer edit it, as XPS files are designed to preserve the integrity of your document. You can however save an XPS file to another application, such as Microsoft Word, to edit the document and then convert it back to the XPS format.
