about a week ago I released a video showing you guys how to use wine as a wood stain and in the comments of that video I got a bunch of new ideas for different things people want to see used as a wood stain and so I assembled my favorite five ideas right here in front of me and Iamp;#39;m gonna test each one on a piece of Oak from the same board to see if any of them make an interesting wood stain first one weamp;#39;re gonna try is grape juice and then the Apple cherry juice and then grape Kool-Aid and Cherry Kool-Aid and the last one weamp;#39;re going to try is the Tang just like before Iamp;#39;m going to continuously flip each one for about 15 minutes so this is what the grape ended up looking like this is the cherry and apple juice this is the grape Kool-Aid this one is the Cherry Kool-Aid and hereamp;#39;s how the Tang turned out itamp;#39;s hard to tell but this actually turned out more golden itamp;#39;s like a golden oat kind of stain which one is your favorite

Staining over an old, failing finish can lead to premature peeling or flaking of the new stain. Stripping eliminates this risk by ensuring a strong bond between the wood and the fresh stain.

While you can restain a deck over an existing stain without sanding or removing the existing peeling product, this isnt always recommended and can leave your deck looking a little worse for wear.
The new stain you are applying over the old stain should be compatible. For instance, if its an oil-based stain, apply another oil-based stain. If its a water-based stain, apply another water-based stain. Incompatible stains can lead to poor adhesion or blotchy and uneven finish.
Minwax PolyShades is an easy way to change the color of your currently stained or polyurethane finished wood. Theres no stripping or heavy sanding necessary to remove the old finish!
Decks that have seen minimal wear and are not exposed to harsh weather conditions may not require stripping. If the wood surface is in good shape and the old stain is still intact, a light sanding and cleaning may be enough before applying a new coat of stain.
