birch plywood can be difficult to stain it tends to absorb seen unevenly and that leaves you with a blotchy uneven color on the wood but there are a few ways you can reduce that blotchiness and Iamp;#39;ll try to demonstrate a few in this video the first thing I did was to sand the board to 180 grit and once that was complete I applied the first stain which was this Vera Thane oil stain itamp;#39;s walnut color and I applied it directly to the wood with no sealer or conditioner and once I had it on I let it sit for about 10 seconds and then wiped off the excess and hereamp;#39;s the result it looks pretty blotchy and this is typical for birch when you apply stain directly to it without any kind of a sealer or conditioner and itamp;#39;s not a good look in my opinion in the next section of the board I first applied this pre-stain conditioner and this will help to reduce the amount of stain that the wood will absorb which will give us a less blotchy appearance and I just wiped it on
