tiff. A TIFF is an image file so it stores photographic and graphical data. You wont be able to edit the original file information without editing software, like docHub Photoshop or Illustrator.
The JPEGs lossy compression translates into files that are relatively small, with an average size of around 10MB. TIFFs, using a lossless form of compression, are much larger. In fact, some TIFFs can docHub up to 4GB in size.
The first way to reduce TIFF file size is with color reduction. TIFF images support various color modes and bit depths. Choosing the appropriate color mode and bit depth can make a big difference in file size. TIFF images can be color, indexed color, grayscale, or monochrome (black and white).
TIFF is uncompressed. Since TIFF does not use any compression algorithms like JPEG or GIF formats, the file contains more data and results in a more detailed picture.
TIFFs are typically uncompressed files or use lossless compression. This results in very high quality images and, subsequently, very large file sizes.
JPEG loses the most information during compression, the process that reduces files sizes, but takes up less space. RAW doesnt compress or process image data, which means files in this format are larger. TIFF is a compression format that doesnt lose information, and its the largest of the three formats.
How to split TIFF Open your web browser in the TIFF free application website, then navigate to the Splitter tool app. Click inside the file drop area to upload or drag drop the file. Click on the SPLIT button, and the file will be automatically uploaded to split.
Remove metadata if that is what takes up space. Increase PNG compression; a tool like PNGgauntlet can help. Reduce bit depth. Reduce pixel dimensions. Flatten image. If saving as tiff try zip/lzw compression. If saving as tiff, you can actually choose JPEG for the compression method.
