To change how dates are formatted, select Tools from the dropdown menu, then choose Options. From this window, select Names/Dates/Places and a format (such as Day Month Year) for both display and input formats. (Mac users: Select Preferences, then Dates/Names/Places.)
Visually similar to an org chart, this diagram is usually presented in a tree structure starting with one individual as the root. From the root, lines representing branches terminate in boxes representing leaves. Each leaf represents individual family members with information such as birth, marriage, and death dates.
Dates: List dates in dd mmm yyyy format (for example: 25 Dec 1928). If youre unsure of the day or year, use the words before, after, or about before the date. You can also use ca. (circa) to indicate an estimate.
