Click Start, type osk in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. Match the keyboard on the screen with the physical keyboard to make sure that the layout matches. To check the uppercase characters, click the shift key on the keyboard or on the screen, and match the characters printed on the keyboard.
There are several common methods to switch layers: Mo(n): This function momentarily activates a layer. When you release the key, the layer is deactivated. TG(n): This function toggles the nth layer on and off. DF(n): This function switches the default layer.
To reassign a key Select the Start button, and then select Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. From the displayed list of key names, select the key that you want to reassign. In the command list of the key that you want to reassign, select a command.
On the Configure tab, select the KEYMAP section, and click on the key that you want to program, and the key will then flash slowly. Click on a key you want to remap in the BASIC/MEDIA/MACRO/LAYERS/SPECIAL/QMK LIGHTING/CUSTOM section. And its done.
The VIA firmware is pretty much the same as QMK firmware, except that the former now has the VIAENABLE feature enabled. The configurator then lets you do all your modifications, including keyboard remapping, light control, macros programming, and layout controls.
Toggling a layer on and off TG(layer) toggles the layer. This is most similar to the Num Lock key. DF(layer) toggles the base layer. Normally youd have your usual letters on the base layer, but if you want to make another layer permanently active, you can do it with this.
Remapping a Key in VIA Select the key to be assigned on the keyboard, whose legend should start to glow slowly, then select the assigned key value in the table, if the assignment is successful, the legend of the key will change to that of the assigned value.
On the menu bar, choose Tools Options. Expand Environment, and then choose Keyboard. Optional: Filter the list of commands by entering all or part of the name of the command, without spaces, in the Show commands containing box. In the list, choose the command to which you want to assign a keyboard shortcut.
