Secret Data M (or secret information) is the data that is going to be embedded into original data and that needs to be secretly transmitted.
The Secret resource contains two distinct maps: data : used to store arbitrary data, encoded using base64. stringData : allows you to provide Secret data as unencoded strings.
Secret: applies when compromise might reasonably cause serious injury to the national interest. Confidential: disclosure might reasonably cause injury to the national interest.
Leveraging tools like Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Secrets Store CSI Driver, ArgoCD with Vault Plugin, and KMS Encryption can docHubly enhance Kubernetes secret management. This aligns with GitOps practices, which often face challenges when it comes to secrets, for better security.
13526 specifies that information whose release would cause exceptionally grave damage to the national security is classified TOP SECRET; information whose release would cause serious damage is classified SECRET; CONFIDENTIAL is the lowest category of classified information currently in use.
Procedure Run the following command to verify if the secret currently exists. kubectl get secrets. If the tlssecret exists, delete it. kubectl delete secret tls-secret. Create a new tlssecret secret with the new certificate and private key. create secret tls tls-secret --key tls.key --cert tls.crt. Verify.
Kubernetes Secrets are, by default, stored unencrypted in the API servers underlying data store (etcd). Anyone with API access can retrieve or modify a Secret, and so can anyone with access to etcd.
The data field is used to store arbitrary data, encoded using base64. The stringData field is provided for convenience, and it allows you to provide the same data as unencoded strings.
