Mod Podge will not protect any foam from taking impressions if dented, so for this foam there is little reason to coat it before paint, unless you want to spray paint it after. In that case it can be beneficial to help it better accept spray paint.
InsulFoam EPS is often applied to various substrates with the use of adhesives. Adhesives provide a convenient method for installation of InsulFoam EPS products. Proper selection of adhesives which are specifically designed for use with polystyrene foams must be used.
The most commonly used adhesive with Styrofoam Brand XPS Insulation is Great Stuff Pro Construction Adhesive. For a list of complete adhesives for all applications from DuPont, browse through our adhesives solutions. There may be other adhesive manufacturers compatible with XPS insulation.
What is the best glue for XPS foam? If you prefer to glue your XPS insulation, PU or MS polymer-based adhesives are the best choice. Solvent-based glues are not suitable, because they may dissolve the XPS foam. It is always a good idea to test the adhesive on a piece of XPS insulation board first.

Insulation joint tapes are designed specifically and solely for sealing insulation joints for corresponding types of insulations and facers. This type of joint tape is usually made of an acrylic adhesive and features various backing materialsincluding foil, foam, paper, or BOPP film.
You can glue it together with almost anything. The key is to make sure you actually clamp it/ weigh it down while it dries. Depending on what you hope the outcome is you can use liquid nails, wood glue, and even foam insulation spray or panel foam adhesive to join pieces together.
Covering EPS/XPS Styrofoam/Roofmate with epoxy resin Make sure the object is clean and dust-free. Mix epoxy resin with the corresponding hardener and apply it to the Styrofoam or Roofmate. Lay a glass fabric of your choice in the wet resin and apply more epoxy with brush or roller.
