Well, fortunately, InDesign makes page numbers easy. In this document, we want the page numbers on almost every document page, so where should we put them? Thatamp;#39;s right, the parent page. So Iamp;#39;m going to come over here to my doc and open the Pages panel, then Iamp;#39;ll double-click on my parent page A, which in this document is called A-Master. Now, Iamp;#39;d like my page numbers at the bottom of this page. I could put it inside the text frame I already have, but in this case, Iamp;#39;m going to grab the Type tool and draw a new text frame down here, just off to the side. Go to Header Footer Field. In the Field names list, select Page, and then select OK. Go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers, select the format you want, and then select OK.
To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
Insert page numbers On the Insert tab, select. If you dont want a page number to appear on the first page, select Different First Page. If you want numbering to start with 1 on the second page, go to Page Number Format Page Numbers, and set Start at to 0. When youre done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.
Tip: If you want your second page to start at 1 rather than 2, go to Insert Page Number Format Page Numbers, and set Start at under Page Numbering to 0, rather than 1.
Double-click the header or the footer area (near the top or bottom of the page). Go to Header Footer Field. In the Field names list, select Page, and then select OK. Go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers, select the format you want, and then select OK.
Move the pointer over the top or bottom of the page until you see the three header or footer fields, then click the field you want to use (left, center, or right). in the toolbar, click the Document tab, then select the Header and Footer checkboxes). Click Insert Page Number, then choose a numbering style.
To restart your numbering, click the Page Number command, then choose Format Page Numbers. From there, youll be able to select Start at: 1. To reformat your numbering, select the page number, then go back to the Home tab. You can change the font, color, size, and more.
What to Know To reset page numbers: Insert Page Number Remove Page Numbers. Do this for each section. To adjust page numbering: Insert Page Number Format Page Numbers. Make sure Start at is set to 1. To make page numbers continuous: Format Page Numbers and choose Continue from previous section.
