If you want roman numerals, put your cursor in the header/footer of each page where you want the roman numerals and manually insert them. On page 9, put your cursor in the header/footer, UN-check the box for link to previous, and go to Insert Page numbers.
To use this feature, make sure your document is in pages format. Open a document in the Google Docs app. Tap Edit . Tap Insert . Tap Page Number . Choose where you want the page numbers to go, and whether you want the first page to be skipped.
On the Insert tab, within the Header Footer Group, click Page Number and then navigate to Format Page Numbers. On the Format Page Numbers dialog box, select Roman numerals from the Number Format drop-down list. Word replaces the integer numbers with Roman numerals as pages i, ii and iii.
If you want roman numerals, put your cursor in the header/footer of each page where you want the roman numerals and manually insert them. On page 9, put your cursor in the header/footer, UN-check the box for link to previous, and go to Insert Page numbers. When the page number is entered it will show up as 9.
To choose a format or to control the starting number, go to Header Footer Page Number Format Page Numbers. To change the numbering style, select a different style in Number format. To change the starting page number of the newly created section, select Start at, and then enter a number. Select OK.
