okay so first of all im going to go up to the bar here and type cmd and enter to open up the windows command prompt then to rename a file type ren which stands for rename then you need to type the name of the file that you want to change plus the extension inside quotation marks so say i want to change the name of this file here called total i need to do open quotation marks total dot xls then close quotation marks then i need a space and then i need to type in the name that i want to change the file to plus the file extension inside quotation marks so im going to do open quotation marks then i want to change the name of this file to summary dot xls and then close quotation marks and enter and now youll see that the name of this file has changed to summary now we need to figure out a way of doing this to multiple different files all at once and that is where excel comes in so the first thing is to get a list of all of the file names in this folder and im going to do that by typing
