hey guys in this video im going to show you the proper way to change your hostname in linux the old way of doing it was just by typing hostname but now you can use hostname ctl and this will give you a lot more information in regards to your host and if you want to change your host name all you need to do is host name ctl and then go set host name and then provide the host name so im going to call this prod dash node and hit enter and i made a typo here i actually dont need this dash right here so lets try it again its asking if im root so im going to put in my password authentication is complete the hostname has been changed all i need to do is restart my computer so lets go ahead and do that ill do a sudo reboot and this is going to come up with the correct hostname now alright so my computer rebooted and you can see that the host name updated and if i do hostname ctl you can see it there theres one more step you actually still need to manually update your host file so im
