Hi everyone this is John-Paul from InMotion Hosting and thank you for joining us for another video in our Advanced video series. Today Im going to show you how to change your default index page in the .htaccess. The server looks for specifically named files as the first page of your website, also known as the index page. The default order of index file names our servers look through is: index.html, index.html, index.php, and finally default.htm. You could change the name of the index file your account looks for by editing the .htaccess. Start by logging into your cPanel. Then click the File Manager button in the Files section. Click Settings on the top right of the page and be sure to check the box next to Show hidden files then click the Save button. Look for the .htaccess file and right-click on it. This brings up a menu. Find and click on the Edit option. You may see a pop-up regarding the encoding, click on the Edit button. Add the following lines to y

If your web page is just a normal HTML file, like (say) home2. html, the easiest way is to simply rename it to index. html. Most (if not all) web servers will automatically serve that file when your visitors go to your domain without any filename (like ).
An index is a list of all the names, subjects and ideas in a piece of written work, designed to help readers quickly find where they are discussed in the text. Usually found at the end of the text, an index doesnt just list the content (thats what a table of contents is for), it analyses it.
If you are using such a server, you can put your index. html in a folder. You see, where you should put your index. html is entirely dependent on the server implementation and how you set it up.
Finding the Home Page site link Login to the PHP-Fusion Admin Panel. Click on the Admin Panel Link. Click on the SYSTEM ADMIN tab. Next, click on the icon labeled SITE LINKS in the bottom left portion of the System Admin tab. This will bring you to the ADD/EDIT SITE LINK and CURRENT SITE LINKS page.
html file first. If you have a subdirectory, it will look for any index file in that directory. Renaming the index file could result in broken links so its not recommended to change the index. html filename.
Quick Tips. Your index page is the home page of your site.
A default Web page is the page that opens when you navigate to a domain without the Web page specified. Right-click the HTML file you want to convert. Type index. Upload the file to your Web host. Set the new index.php file as the default Web page.
As a rule the file called index is the default start page. This means that this page will be shown first when you access your domain, directly (.example.com). Furthermore, index. php will always be shown before index.
The index. html page is the most common name used for the default page shown on a website if no other page is specified when a visitor requests the site. In other words, index. html is the name used for the homepage of the website.
Apache file path/conf/httpd.conf Change index. html or index. php to whatever default page you want. Restart Apache ~ Done.
