The ASC option specifies an index maintained in ascending order; this is the default order. The DESC option can specify an index that is maintained in descending order.
How to Alter Index in MySQL? ALTER Table TableName ADD PRIMARY KEY (ColumName); ALTER Table TableName ADD UNIQUE IndexName (ColumName); ALTER Table TableName ADD INDEX IndexName (ColumName); ALTER Table TableName ADD FULLTEXT IndexName (ColumName);
You can use the ASC and DESC keywords to specify ascending (smallest value first) or descending (largest value first) order.
Use the ALTER INDEX statement to change or rebuild an existing index. The index must be in your own schema or you must have ALTER ANY INDEX system privilege. To execute the MONITORING USAGE clause, the index must be in your own schema.
Clustered indexes are indexes whose order of the rows in the data pages corresponds to the order of the rows in the index. This order is why only one clustered index can exist in any table, whereas, many non-clustered indexes can exist in the table.
To change the index values we need to use the setindex method which is available in pandas allows specifying the indexes. where, inplace parameter accepts True or False, which specifies that change in index is permanent or temporary. True indicates that change is Permanent.
Types of indexes Unique indexes enforce the constraint of uniqueness in your index keys. Bidirectional indexes allow for scans in both the forward and reverse directions. Clustered indexes can help improve the performance of queries that traverse the table in key order.
You cannot alter a clustered index. The only option is to drop it and re-create it with the new column. In your case, youll probably have to re-create the table with the new clustered index on ID and then copy the data over.
To modify an index Right-click the index that you want to modify and then click Properties. In the Index Properties dialog box, make the desired changes. For example, you can add or remove a column from the index key, or change the setting of an index option.
You need to do this from the table designer, then right-click and choose Indexes/Keys . First find the existing clustered index (probably the primary key) and change Create as Clustered to No. Then go to the other index and change Create as Clustered to Yes for that.
