Table of Contents in Google Docs is fairly simple. You just have to put the cursor wherever you want to add the Table of Contents. In this case, we are going to add it here after the title at the beginning of our document. Then we can go at the top and say Insert Table of Contents. On your computer, open a document in Google Docs. Select text with the style you want to use. Update Heading to match. All of the text in your document with the same text type, such as Heading 4 or Normal text, will be updated to match your initial selection.
You can use a standard option in Google Docs to apply the new format to all similar styles, e.g. to all headings: Right-click the text with the style you want to alter in the document, e.g. Heading 1. In your document, with your mouse select the text to which you want to apply the style. For a main heading, click Heading 1. For a subheading click Heading 2, and so on. You do not need to apply a style to text that is not a heading (i.e. a paragraph).
