sometimes we inherit a document that we need to change the header so lets take a look at how we do that lets go to where it says insert at the top and well go to where it says header and well click on edit and now we have the option to edit so lets say I dont really want to go with this blue bar or anything like that I want to make this completely different so when we open up the header we actually open up a new tab called design and it automatically goes to that location so Im going to go over to where it says header once again but this is a little different spot than where it was last time and Im going to say lets choose a completely different option here lets just choose the plain one there we go and Im going to select the text that we see and type in the same thing that was there now we can also say you know what I like this title but I dont really like it in that location so lets go to the home button and we can make it go to the center then we can click on the larger

In most cases, when you cant edit the header or footer, the reason is that the content isnt supported for editing in Word Online. You should be able to download the document to your local drive, though.
Go to Layout Page Setup Header Footer. Under Header or Footer, on the pop-up menu, select (none).
On the Layout tab, under View, click Page Layout. On the Layout tab, under Page Setup, click Header Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers by going to the Header or Footer pop-up menu, and clicking the header or footer that you want.
Edit your existing headers and footers Double-click the header or footer you want to edit, or select Header or Footer, and then select Edit Header or Edit Footer. Add or change text for the header or footer or do any of the following: When youre done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.
Double-click the header or footer. Select Different Odd Even Pages. On one of the odd pages, select the header or footer area you want to change.
Change or delete a header or footer on a single page Double-click the first page header or footer area. Check Different First Page to see if its selected. If not: Select Different First Page. Add your new content into the header or footer. Select Close Header and Footer or press Esc to exit.
Go to Insert Header or Footer. Choose from a list of standard headers or footers, go to the list of Header or Footer options, and select the header or footer that you want. Or, create your own header or footer by selecting Edit Header or Edit Footer. When youre done, select Close Header and Footer or press Esc.
Creating or Modifying a Header or Footer On the Document tab, click Modify. Under Type, choose either Header or Footer. In the Header/Footer Number box, enter a header or footer number. Click OK to access the header/footer window. Format the header or footer. On the Document tab, click Modify.
