A completed and signed application for Texas title, 130-U. This form can be faxed on demand from 1-888-232-7033 or downloaded through the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles website. Other supporting evidence may be required on an individual basis.
You need to provide the buyer with your original title. Remember to add the date of sale and odometer reading before you hand the title over to the buyer. You also need to complete an Application for Texas Title and/or Registration and provide it to the buyer.
Submit it online. Mail a completed Vehicle Transfer Notification Form to the address located on the form. Visit a Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Regional Service Center.
In addition to all of the paperwork, there will be a number of fees associated with a title transfer. The transfer fee itself may cost as much as $33 depending on the county in which you sell the car and the required inspection can cost up to $40. There are also additional miscellaneous fees that could cost around $20.
