General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. has secured a $34.2 million modification to its contract with the U.S. Navy to deliver a mobile Ground Control System (GCS) and six Ground Data Terminals (GDT) for MQ-9 Reapers acquired for the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). The MQ-9A Extended Range unmanned aircraft systems are designed for long-range intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, with an endurance exceeding 30 hours and triple redundant avionics. The new GCS and GDTs will enhance the operational capability of the Marine Air Ground Task Forces using the MQ-9A Block Five Reaper air vehicles. The funding breakdown includes $10.8 million from the 2022 Fiscal Year procurement and $23.4 million from 2023.
